I know his hair is pretty, but if you shave it or cut it down this will make the process a lot easier and it will grow back quick. If you don't want to do that, be prepared for a rougher time!

Use unscented dawn soap and SCRUB him. Put him in the bathtub or a deep sink if you can, he will **** it but you will need to dunk his little head under the water because that's where fleas run to once the dog is placed in water. Dawn soap is gentle enough on his eyes for this to be okay. If you decided not to shave/cut, then get a flea pick and go through him a bizillion times.

Use Frontline or Advantage to prevent them from coming back, wash all their bedding and yours, as well as use flea spray, NOT bombs as they are bad to inhale, and vacuum everywhere. If you can afford it, get a cleaning crew in- it will save you money in the long run to get rid of them all!

If it is realllly bad take him to the vet, who can give them pills to kill them from the inside out. if you can afford to do this, it is a good idea to help you on top (not in place) of all the other things.

So. Wash the dog, wash the bedding, vacuum the carpets, medicate the dog. Good luck!

She needs another flea bath and then you need to give her Revolution. She should be on flea meds year round. Revolution can only be obtained at a vets office though so either you can bring her to the vet and they can do some blood work on her and then you can buy it or you can try the store brand stuff (which I have recently found out isn't as good).
I just got a foster dog from a local rescue place on the 5th and was told he had all his shots and was taken care of. Well, four days after I got him he ended up having fleas. I tried the store brand stuff but a few hours later I saw them in dozens all over him so I took him to the vet and they kept him overnight to give him a flea bath and test him heartworm and then I bought a years worth of Revolution flea protection for him. The rescue place felt really bad and admitted that since it was September they didn't think to give him anything for fleas.

You also need to know that if your dog has fleas you have to flea bomb your house as they are now all over your carpets. And any other pets you may have will have to be treated, plus you will have to wash any sheets that the dog may have been on. I just went through this and it was a pain but now I am sure we got rid of it all. Also, you need to know that this year the fleas are out in the hundreds so make sure you have you precious pup protected with some kind of flea preventative.
