bomb your house. no not litterally. go to the pet store ask about flea house bombs and kill those little buggers.
chances are that the fleas are dying on your doggie but not the ones in the carpet. and once the flea killers subside they jump right back on him.

OR he could have a skin issue. soooo i would take him to the vet just to make sure.

if you dont have any flea bites yourself… its not fleas.

if the flea killers didnt work, perhaps see a vet? he may have a skin infection or anything similair, that may cause long term skin irritation.

If you think it is the pet, maybe the pet has dry skin form all those medications. And get a flea collar to keep any new visitors away. If you have recently steamvaced the carpet floors, did you use the pet formula? Or take the pet to the vet.

But if you think the house has fleas and thats whats causing all the itching then I got a
6 step process that worked for me when my cat infested the house. (it was some scary stuff, i lost sleep over it)
1,) Bathe the pet, get all the ‘flea b gone’ stuff you can find and apply it to the pet. Take the pet away from the bad area for a day or so.
2.) Start Vacuuming the area. I suggest using a Dyson Vacuum or a bagless Vac that fleas cannot escape from. ( a bagged vacume wont work, either will those bagless vacumes with exposed filters becuase fleas can squeez through that stuff and then get shot out the exhaust and back onto the floor.)
3.)Spray some flea/egg killer stuff. let it sit for a couple of hours to dry.
4.)Vacuum again, only in slow motion, going over the same spot 3 or 4 times. If you go over the area to fast you might miss something.
5.) Use a steam vac on the carpet (bugs and eggs float, not to mention, steaming eggs kills them, and a wet floor doesnt help the bugs)
6) Let everything dry and vacuum again.

Check his skin condition. Does he have little droppings that look like fine dark sand? Those are flea droppings. If he has those use flea shampoo and make sure to follow manufacturers directions.
For a preventative I only use Revolution. You can get it from you vet. I always find it is cheaper to get the vets input and only OTC with his recommendations.
Have the vet check him.
If his skin is healthy an pink it could be a habit and you need to work on redirecting him to find something else to do (chew bones work to occupy his time)
If you have been using the OTC’s you may have dry skin (flakey dry white patches) Use a conditioning shampoo for dogs and don’t over shampoo him. There is a lotion called Keri that is not oily. You can condition his skin and hair with that.
It is not uncommon for animals skin to dry out during the change of seasons.
Good Luck and pet the monster.
Don’t forget to spay or neuter.

Gosh poor little guy! I know it would look silly but maybe you are having such a hard time getting rid of them because he has so much hair, maybe give him a hair cut. It will grow back you will just have a bald monster
