I always use this bomb called Raid. Its not for dogs but it kills all sorts of bugs. But in order to use this you have to set it off and get your self and the puppy out of the house for like 3 hours. It really works though!

Good Luck =)

Advantage, Frontline, and Advantix are all good products for flea control. The person who said they will not keep the dog from getting re-infested is wrong. If you apply the product correctly and use it every month, it will kill any flea that bites your dog. However, you can not bathe your dog in a shampoo that has any soap or detergent. You should only use aloe/oatmeal shampoos when using a topical flea product because a soap based shampoo will wash the product off. That means no flea shampoos or dips!

Also, be very careful when using products you find OTC such as Hartz or Adams. If not used 100% correctly they can be very toxic to an animal.

Do not use Advantix if you have cats in the household, because it is very toxic to cats.

Most of the name brand defoggers work to kill the adult flea, but you and the dog must stay out of the house a minimum of 4 fours, then open the windows and let the house air out for another 30 minutes or so. The Fronline will keep the fleas from living off your dog but until you get the ones in the carpets and the sub-flooring, a problem will still occur. You may have to bomb the house again in about 2 weeks.

Advantage and Frontline kill the fleas and ticks that are already on the dog, but they don' keep the dog from getting reinfested. Adams sells a line of products that works really well. Treat your dog with the tick bath, spray around the baseboards in your house, and go to the dog park for a couple hours. Once the spray is dry, it is fine to bring your pets (and kids) back inside. It's a good idea to do it once and then again 2 weeks later. That will kill the fleas & ticks in the house, but you will probably also want to treat the yard as well. It's best to do everything at once rather than a little bit at a time. That way you get rid of them once and you won't have to keep dealing with the problem. You will want to continue using the Advantage or Frontline once a month to keep the problem from getting out of hand again.
