I fear my little dog has a serious problem, and until I get her to the vet tomorrow, are there any vets here?

My husband and I have a little **** tsu/Pekapoo mixed female dog that is less than two years old. On Tuesday evening, I adminstered on her for the first time the product "K9 Advantix" for fleas. I put this on her around 8 pm. During that same night around 3 am, she and other dog woke me up like they normally to do to be let out to go to the bathroom. When I let both of them out, I thought they both went. We keep "Cinder" in her crate at night, but she had continued fussing and whining till I let her back out again. She just went into the yard and sat then laid down in the cold grass. For the rest of the day Wednesday, after my before and after my husband and I got home from work, she continued whimpering and fussing and reaching for her hind end off and on. We called the vet, and since we live over 30 minutes away, they told us to bathe her in Dawn dish soap, adminster Benydryl every 8 hours, and also a tablet of Prednisone for 2-3 days, that we had from our other dog.
After following these steps through the Thanksgiving holiday, she has not improved at all. She has not had a bowel movement, and is not eating or drinking. Up till now, she has been current on all her shots, and has been checked by the vet to be a healthy dog. We fear there is something more serious going on now instead of an allergic reaction to the K9. Are there any vets here that might be able to give me some ideas what the problem may be till we get her to our vet tomorrow? We are so worried about her. We would like to hear some suggestions from knowledgable people only who won't be scaring us with nonsense or just guesses.

take her to the closest animal hospital

I’m not a vet, but it sounds like an allergy or maybe hot spots on the hind end. Hot spots are caused when the animal is allergic to bug bites. If that is the case, they sell hot spot cream at pet stores or talk to your vet.

I am not a Vet and wouldn’t want to try and take the place of one, but I will say that I have had dogs that are sensitive to Advantage, Advantix and Frontline. Sometimes the reactions were a bit of blood in the urine even. So I quit using those products and have been using Bio Spot which seems a lot gentler but has been very effective. Hope your pup will be okay.

The fleas are prob moving around now that you have used that & its probably irritating.I would wash the stuff off. What does your vet think is the prob to use predisone,,hmm. For future use,,use Scratchex flea soap for dogs,,it works great but follow directions.

The fact that it’s her **** bothering her doesn’t make it sound like it has to do with the Advantix. But just to double check, did you use the appropriate Advantix for her weight? It comes in different dosages by weight.
Since you’ve already talked to the vet and gotten advice, I would just go with what he says until you can take her in. Just from what you’ve said it doesn’t sound like an emergency. But if something has changed significantly since you talked to the vet, or if you have a gut feeling that it really is an emergency, find a 24 hour hospital. Usually if you call a vet after hours their answering machine message has the number for the closest emergency hospital. Otherwise check the yellow pages.
BTW, re: the recommendation of Bio Spot above–unless I am confusing it with another product, it is definitely NOT more gentle. It is actually a highly toxic pesticide. Products that you get from your vet, like Frontline, are much much safer.

get her to a emergency animal hospital fast

I had a similar issue with my chihuahua. we couldnt afford a vet bill so did everything we could for her. Spoon fed small amounts of pedalyte, gave her tiny bits of benedryl. in the end we waited too long and she died in my arms on the way to the emergency vet. its hard to get over something like that. I agree with everyone else. Take her to an animal hospital. Even if they just give her another bath in dawn and watch her thru the night. In the long run you and she will feel better. Better safe….than sorry
