How do pets know ALL of their nicknames?

they associate it with u giving them attention and maybe the tone of ur voice too they don’t care about the other things u say

i think it’s just the overtones in your voice that they respond to. you don’t know but you say the names different in a way that they understand.

i don’t believe they do….they listen more to the tone of your voice then anything. If you were to say, “come here little sh*ithead!” instead of “come here fluffy!” your pet would probably listen just the same.

Jennifur is Jenn, Jen-Jen, Jenna
Rari-Radar is Raroosh, Rari-Runt, Radar, Panty Boy (don’t ask)
Tanner is just Tanner or Tan-Tan, or Handsome (he’s gorgeous)
Freddie is Frederick the Rederick, Mr. Redford, Fredoosh, Fred
Romeo is Romeo-me-o-me-o, Romy Toes, Romy Runt, Romy
Just derivations of their names, not nicknames, so I guess they all recognize them, especially because I also use a different tone for each of them. Fred gets it loud, Tanner gets it soft and sweet, Rari loves to be bossed around, and Jenna is my little 80 pound lady (German Shepherd) who loves to be spoken to low and sweet.

um, they don’t, just add “Y” to the end of any word, and they’ll respond !

I think they just respond to the tone of your voice……For example my dogs name is April and somewhere along the line I started calling her Punky Lou Lou…..Don’t ask me why…and she responds as well as to just her name of April..

They don’t. You can call them anything you want as long as you say it in the right tone and with some sort of signal like eye contact or a treat.

mine all have like 100 and they know when we’re talking to them!!!we make up like ten new names for them every day! they also know the name is for them

yeah its weird but they know when your talking to them. i think it dosent have to even be saying their name, like my sis got a dog from a woman with a bunch of other dogs and for each of her dogs she wistled a different tune and each dog knew their tune and would come.
